Dr. Diane Staehr Fenner

Diane founded SupportEd (formerly DSF Consulting) in 2011 as a way to serve all stakeholders who work to help ELs realize their full potential. Some recent projects include developing professional development modules for the National Education Association, creating a set of English language proficiency standards for adults and an online training module for the U.S. Department Education in partnership with the American Institutes for Research, revising the P-12 Professional Teaching Standards for TESOL International Association, and providing ESOL program support and technical assistance to the Syracuse City School District (NY). Diane is the author of four books, blogger for the Colorín Colorado website, and frequent keynote presenter on EL education at conferences across North America. Diane was a research associate at George Washington University’s Center for Excellence and Equity in Education, spent a decade as an ESOL teacher in Fairfax County Public Schools, VA. Diane earned her Ph.D. in Multilingual/Multicultural Education with an emphasis in Literacy at George Mason University. She earned her MAT in TESOL at the School for International Training and her Masters in German at Penn State University.

Andrea DeCapua, Ed.D., is a researcher, educator, and educational consultant. Her interests include second language acquisition, intercultural awareness, and second language learners in the classroom. She specializes in teacher training for teachers working with students with limited or interrupted formal education (SLIFE) as well as other struggling culturally and linguistically diverse learners. Dr. DeCapua is a frequent presenter and trainer at conferences, national organizations, and school districts around the country. She is the author/co-author of several books on SLIFE and other struggling language learners and MALP®, a strengths-based instructional approach serving struggling ELs.

Sarah Ottow is the founder and lead coach of Confianza, a Boston-based EL consulting organization. Sarah has dedicated her career to empowering teachers and promoting equity for culturally and linguistically diverse students. She has served as a classroom teacher, an EL specialist, a district coordinator, and a bilingual literacy coach/reading specialist in Wisconsin, Massachusetts and Puerto Rico schools. Sarah has earned a Masters of Science in Curriculum and Instruction focused on social justice in urban education. As an EL PD Specialist and WIDA Consultant, Sarah works with educators across the country to support their multilingual learners and their families.

Jaclyn Eichenberger
K-5 English Learner Teacher
Jaclyn Eichenberger is an eager advocate of equitable practices for English Learner students and teachers. In her work as a K-5 English Learner teacher in Minnesota, Jaclyn taught alongside and coached content teachers on EL best practices. She led professional development sessions around content and language objectives, Academic Language, and SIOP. In her district, Jaclyn spearheaded the development of WIDA aligned English Language Development benchmark writing assessments for kindergarten through fifth grade. Jaclyn is an experienced EL co-teacher and avid fan of teacher collaboration. Currently, Jaclyn is pursuing her Ed.M. in Language and Literacy at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

Martina Wagner has a background in serving English Language learners that has spanned over twenty years in grades pre-K thru adult education. Her professional passions and expertise include best practice and programming for ELs, Sheltered Instruction (SIOP), Co-teaching, Special Education Identification of ELs, WIDA standards, and English Language Learning assessments and data. Martina’s background in co-teaching, Sheltered Instruction, and English Language Learner programming has spanned from classroom to district implementation, professional development, instructional coaching, as well as strategic district action planning and implementation throughout the U.S. and internationally. She has keynoted at several conferences including Minnesota Middle School Association (MMSA) conference and The MN Migrant Bilingual Conference, on the design, impact, and implementation of SIOP and co-teaching within schools and districts. She has completed her Master’s Degree in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) and Educational Doctoral Degree in Leadership and Administration.
